Beau Stanton
The 20x21EUG Mural Project and Kesey Enterprises were proud to bring artist Beau Stanton to Eugene to paint a new mural on the McDonald Theatre in downtown Eugene. Stanton had just finished a month-long animated installation titled “Voyage” as part of Midnight Moment in Times Square, N.Y. before coming to Eugene for two weeks in August of 2016.
Overlooking the LTD Bus Station and within sight of the downtown Library, the west facing 161-foot wall of the McDonald Theatre was an ideal location for a new mural because of its high visibility.
Stanton, a multi-disciplinary artist, was a perfect fit for the historic theater. Utilizing meticulous technique and craft, he draws inspiration from historic ornamentation, religious iconography and classical painting. He does everything from large-scale installations to stained glass, mosaics and multimedia animations.
